Have You Heard About “invisible” Orthodontics?

Crooked teeth can lead to self-esteem and self-confidence issues, as well as contribute to other oral health problems. Some of you put off getting them straightened due to worries about the wires and brackets of metal braces being uncomfortable, inconvenient, and painful — as well as concerns about how being a “metal mouth” may affect your social life or work environment. Put it off no longer. Read on to find out about an “invisible” way to straighten your teeth.

The Invisalign® Solution

Instead of brackets and wires, the Invisalign solution uses specially-designed, custom, removable trays to move your teeth into the desired position. As tooth movement progresses, new trays are fitted to continue the process. The time required to straighten crooked teeth can be cut by as much as half over traditional braces.

Besides taking less time, there are other benefits that the Invisalign system brings:

  • Easy to care for
Even while being straightened, your teeth require that you continue brushing and flossing daily to prevent cavities and gum disease. Since the trays block saliva from “washing” the teeth when being worn, brushing after meals become even more important. But the good news is that because the aligner trays are removable, it is far easier to keep up your daily oral hygiene regimen.
  • More flexibility in food choices
You don’t have the list of food restrictions that may be found with wearing metal braces where care must be taken not to break or bend the brackets and wires. Just remove the trays while eating and put them back in after brushing or rinsing your teeth. Don’t wrap them up in a napkin, though. We’ve often heard that the trays have been accidentally thrown away doing that! Use your case or something similar to store them so they will be easier to see and remember.
  • Not easily noticed
This benefit alone for many teens and adults is enough to warrant Invisalign® for many teens and adults. You don’t need to be self-conscious wearing Invisalign aligners — most people won’t know that you have orthodontics in place, even up close.

Is Invisalign Right for You?

Invisalign may not be for everyone. It takes discipline. To achieve the best results, the trays need to be worn at least 22 hours a day, every day. And just like metal braces, treatment isn’t over when the straightening period is finished. Depending on your circumstances, you’ll be required to wear a retainer for a specified period for maintenance. Your teeth are an investment. You don’t want the time and money spent to be wasted by having teeth shift back!

Don’t suffer from crooked teeth — contact our office today for a consultation. Together, we can determine if Invisalign® or an alternative is right for you, and get you on the road to straight teeth and a beautiful smile.
