When you look at your teeth, do you like what you see? If you don’t, what would you change? A new year is a perfect time to make a change. Are your teeth crooked? Do they close improperly and cause discomfort? If so, we can set you on a clear path to a straight and healthy smile.
Basics of Invisalign
Invisalign uses a sequence of removable clear aligners to straighten your teeth. The system uses 3D imaging technology to create the aligners that guide the movement of your teeth through each treatment phase. You also get a glimpse of your new smile before you start treatment.
Your aligners are made to order based on your orthodontic needs. You’ll switch to a new set of aligners every two weeks. Each set in the sequence causes gradual tooth movement until the desired result is obtained.
We must see you a few times during your orthodontic treatment to observe your progress. Sometimes, you may need to wear a set of aligners for more or less than two weeks. Commit to keeping your scheduled appointments so your treatment plan stays on course.
Maintenance During Invisalign Treatment
Clean your hands before you handle your aligners. Remove the aligners when you eat food, drink beverages, or brush your teeth. Invisalign makes oral hygiene easy because there are no brackets and wires to work around.
Brush your teeth and floss them after meals for good oral hygiene. Get a travel-size kit containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss to use when you are away from home. Also, don’t forget to keep your aligner case with you.
Rinse the aligners when you take them out of your mouth. You can clean them with clear antibacterial soap. Also, soak your aligners in Invisalign cleaning solution or a denture cleaner a minimum of 15 minutes a day.
Your compliance determines the success of your treatment. For the best results, wear your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Remember, the only time you should remove them is for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth, or cleaning your aligners. Are you considering Invisalign treatment?
